PostFinance (classic) payment type
What the classic PostFinance payment type is, why it's a legacy option, and how to move to PostFinance Checkout instead.
You may see PostFinance listed as a payment type in older shop configurations. This is the classic, card-station style PostFinance integration (identified by a merchant ID/PSPID and a SHA signature) — it has been replaced by PostFinance Checkout and is kept only so shops that already use it keep working.
Why you're seeing "PostFinance"
The classic PostFinance payment type relied on a merchant ID (PSPID) and a SHA signing secret to redirect customers to PostFinance's hosted payment page. It's marked as a legacy option in Vinosoft:
- Shops that configured it in the past can keep using it — existing orders and checkouts continue to process normally.
- It's no longer offered as a selectable payment type for new shop setups.
- There's no self-service settings screen to enter or change PostFinance (classic) credentials — these values were configured for you when the integration was first set up.
What to do instead
If you want to accept PostFinance-based payments in your shop today, set up PostFinance Checkout (shown as Wallee in the payment type settings) under Shop → Configuration → Payment types → Wallee. It uses a Space ID, User ID, and User Key instead of a PSPID/SHA pair, and is the actively supported integration going forward. Full steps are in Connect PostFinance Checkout.
If you're unsure whether your shop is still using classic PostFinance or has already moved to PostFinance Checkout, check which payment type is enabled and visible under Shop → Configuration → Payment types.
