Checkout compliance

Require Terms & Conditions acceptance, link your privacy policy, and control the newsletter opt-in on your checkout.

Checkout compliance controls the legal-consent gate on your storefront's checkout — the Terms & Conditions acceptance checkbox, the links to your Terms and Privacy Policy pages, and an optional newsletter opt-in checkbox. Requiring explicit consent before a buyer can place an order is often a legal requirement in the EU and Switzerland, particularly for a shop selling age-restricted goods such as wine.

Open Checkout compliance

Require Terms & Conditions acceptance

Tick Require terms & conditions acceptance to add an acceptance checkbox next to the pay button on checkout. While it's ticked, a buyer can't complete an order without checking the box — Vinosoft enforces this on both the checkout page and the server, so it can't be bypassed by skipping the client-side check.

Add your Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy links

Under Links, enter the web addresses of your own legal pages:

  • Terms & Conditions URL — shown as a link next to the acceptance checkbox (and in the checkout footer) so buyers can read your terms before agreeing to them.
  • Privacy Policy URL — shown next to the Terms link. The privacy link only appears when you fill in this field.

Leave a field blank to show its label as plain text without a link. Vinosoft doesn't host or author this legal content for you — link to pages you maintain elsewhere, such as your Manage static pages.

Show a newsletter opt-in checkbox

Under Newsletter, tick Show newsletter opt-in checkbox to add an opt-in checkbox to checkout. It's unticked by default, so a buyer must actively choose to subscribe — when they tick it, their email address is added to your Shop-users newsletter group.

Save your changes

Click Save to apply your compliance settings. They take effect on your live checkout immediately — place a test order afterward to confirm the checkbox, links, and any required acceptance behave as you expect.
