Configure shop layout
Arrange product filters, sorting, and product-card display options for your online shop.
The Layout settings in Shop Configuration control how products and filters are arranged for your shoppers — which filters appear, how products are sorted and displayed by default, and which details show on the product listing. This is separate from full theme editing, which is covered in Choose and customize your shop theme.
Open the layout settings
Go to Shop → Configuration → Layout (part of the shop configuration form).
Choose a filter type
Under the filtering section, pick how product filters work on your shop:
- Custom label filtering — the older, label-based filter behavior.
- Out-of-box filtering — filters driven by custom fields, configurable per filter below.
Use the Show product filters checkbox to turn the filter sidebar on or off entirely.
Configure and reorder filters
When Out-of-box filtering is selected, a grid lists your available filters (categories, color, and any custom-field-based filters you've added). For each filter you can:
- Enable/disable it with the checkbox in that row.
- Mark it unfolded so it displays expanded by default instead of collapsed.
- Mark it ordered by name so its values list alphabetically instead of by a custom order.
Drag rows up or down by their handle to change the order filters appear in on the storefront.
If you use Custom label filtering instead, you'll see simpler toggles such as showing the categories filter, filtering by color, and showing all items within the categories filter.
Set default sorting and view type
Below the filters, choose how the product listing behaves by default:
- Sort products by — the field products are ordered by (e.g. name, price).
- Sort direction — ascending or descending.
- Shop view type — how products are displayed (e.g. grid or list).
- Home button path — where the shop's "home" link points to.
Control product card details
In the product details section, toggle which attributes appear on product cards and detail pages — manufacturer, year, size, alcohol volume, description, additional description, and area — plus which custom fields are used for extra display slots.
Layout integration code
Under Layout Integration, you can paste custom Head and Body code snippets that get injected into your shop's pages — useful for tracking scripts or small customizations that don't require a full theme change.
Save your changes
Click Save at the bottom of the form to apply your layout changes to the live shop.
