POS app settings

Set the language, storage location, payment methods, product cards, printer, card reader, customer display and security of the till.

The Settings tab holds everything you can configure on the iPad itself. Some settings, such as the shift mode and the client address sales are booked to, come from the CRM (Configuration → POS Devices) and are only shown here.

The top of the Settings tab: Language, Setup Assistant, Storage Location, Checkout Settings and the Shifts section with Mode, Current Shift, Last Checked and Check Now.

General

  • Language: the app language. System Default follows the iPad's language setting.
  • Setup Assistant: syncs settings and articles again and fills in anything missing (see Get started with the POS app).
  • Storage Location: the storage this till sells from. Stock quantities are shown for this storage.
  • Shifts: shows the shift mode and the current shift. See Open and close a shift.
  • Price Display Mode: Gross shows prices including tax, Net shows prices excluding tax.
  • Number Format: how numbers appear in the app and on printed receipts.
  • Coupons Enabled and Loyalty Enabled: allow coupons and loyalty card redemption at checkout (see Ring up a sale).
  • Auto Sync: how often products, receipts and stock sync by themselves (see Sync the till with the CRM).

Checkout settings

Tap Checkout Settings to choose what the Checkout tab offers.

The Checkout Settings screen with the Payment Methods switches (Cash, Card, TWINT QR (manual)), the Multi-Cart switch, the Year, Size, Alcohol and Country filter switches, and the Product Card options.
  • Payment Methods: switch Cash, Card and TWINT QR (manual) on or off. At least one must be enabled.
  • Multi-Cart: lets you hold a cart and start a new one (see Ring up a sale).
  • Filters: adds dropdown filters to checkout to filter products by year, size, alcohol or country.
  • Product Card: chooses what each product tile shows: image, year, size, alcohol, country and stock. With Show Stock, tiles are colour-coded: green means in stock, orange means low and red means out of stock.

Hardware

The lower part of Settings: Loyalty, Auto Sync (Products, Receipts, Stock), Hardware Profile (Printer, Card Reader), Security Settings and Customer Display.

Under Hardware Profile, choose the devices this iPad uses:

  • Printer: STAR mPOP (printer with cash drawer, barcode scanner and customer display) or Network Printer. For a network printer, enter its IP address and port (usually 9100), choose the paper width (58 mm or 80 mm) and use Test Print to check the connection.
  • Card Reader:
    • SumUp Solo: tap Log in to SumUp and sign in with your SumUp account. Change Terminal pairs a different reader. Forget Terminal & Log Out removes the pairing.
    • Worldline: connect a Link2500 terminal on the same Wi-Fi, either by its Terminal ID (printed on the device label) or by Direct IP (default port 7784). Then tap Connect to Terminal.
    • External Terminal (CCV): a terminal that isn't connected to the iPad. You charge the card on the terminal and confirm the payment in the app (see Take a payment).

The Receipt Image is the logo from the CRM that's printed at the top of each receipt. Switch on Fit to paper width to scale a small logo up.

Customer display

Under Customer Display, set the messages shown on a STAR SCD222U customer display. The Welcome Message appears while the till is waiting for the next customer. The Thank You Message appears after a sale. Each line holds up to 20 characters.

Security

Under Security Settings, switch on Enable Touch ID Unlock to unlock the app with a fingerprint. For security, the app always logs out after 15 minutes of inactivity.
