Selling wine on Galaxus: requirements, connection, costs

Galaxus is Switzerland's largest online retailer, and it opens its range to merchants who offer their own goods there. For a wine business, that means your wines appear next to the Galaxus range, in front of customers who may never have heard your name. This guide explains what Galaxus requires, how Vinosoft supplies the data, and where you still lend a hand yourself today.

How the Galaxus marketplace works

On the marketplace you sell in your own name: the sales contract is between you and the customer, you set the price and you ship yourself. Galaxus provides the platform and the customers and earns a commission on every sale, which varies by product category. Galaxus gives you the current terms during sign-up.

Galaxus does not accept every merchant; it checks whether the business and its range fit. Expect an application and a conversation before your first product goes live.

What to prepare

  • A merchant account with Galaxus. Once approved, you receive credentials for the Galaxus SFTP server, which is where stock and product data are exchanged.
  • A GTIN for every article. Galaxus matches offers by barcode. A wine without a valid GTIN (EAN) cannot be sent.
  • Well-kept product data. Name, description, images, vintage, alcohol content and bottle size. Texts in several languages help: Galaxus sells across all of Switzerland.
  • A selection. Not every wine belongs on a marketplace. Leave out rarities with three bottles in stock, or wines you only sell at the cellar door.

How Vinosoft sends the data

The connection is a feed of type Galaxus, which you create under Shop → Integrations → Product feeds. A wizard asks for the Galaxus SFTP credentials; you can save it before Galaxus has finished setting up your account.

  1. Stock and prices, every 15 minutes. Vinosoft puts a file on the Galaxus SFTP server with GTIN, price, VAT rate, available stock, restock time, and minimum and step order quantities. Sell something in your own shop or at the till, and the new stock reaches Galaxus within a quarter of an hour.
  2. Product data, if you want it. A switch on the feed also sends product texts in German, French, Italian and English, images, and specifications such as vintage and alcohol content. These files go about once a day, and straight away when you save the feed.
  3. Selected articles only. By default, only articles you release for it go to Galaxus. The feed's article list shows which wines are sent and which are not, for example because the GTIN is missing.

The source is your article master in Vinosoft, not the webshop. So Galaxus works even if you don't run a shop of your own.

What happens to the orders

Galaxus orders do not come into Vinosoft automatically today. You see and handle them in the Galaxus partner portal, ship the goods and report the shipment there. To keep the stock in Vinosoft right, record each Galaxus sale as a delivery note or invoice, for example against a collective customer "Galaxus". Until you do, Vinosoft — and so the next sync to Galaxus — still shows the sold bottles as available.

If stock is tight, it is therefore worth not showing Galaxus your entire stock, and only offering wines you have plenty of.

What it costs

The Galaxus connection is an add-on you book in Vinosoft under Configuration → Marketplace: CHF 99 a month or CHF 990 a year. Without the add-on, a Galaxus feed cannot be created or switched on. On top come the Galaxus sales commissions. Your settings are kept if you cancel the add-on; the feed simply stops running.

Checklist

  • Applied for a Galaxus merchant account and received SFTP access
  • Entered a GTIN on every wine you want to offer
  • Product texts and images in place, ideally in German and French
  • Booked the Galaxus add-on and created the feed under Shop → Integrations
  • Selected the articles for the feed and checked the feed's article list for errors
  • Agreed how Galaxus orders are handled: who processes them in the partner portal, who records the document in Vinosoft

Galaxus and your own shop

Galaxus brings reach; your own shop brings the margin and the customer relationship: whoever buys on Galaxus is a Galaxus customer, not yours. Many businesses use both and put a voucher or a note about their own shop in the Galaxus parcels. How to build your own wine shop is covered in the overview Building a wine webshop in Switzerland.

As of October 2026. Galaxus terms and requirements can change; the documents you receive from Galaxus are authoritative.
